ABOUT
The Social Queer was founded with a singular intention: to bridge queer community and connection in a world that so often reinforces separation. The seed was planted in February 2018, in Seattle, after founder Kristina English spent two years navigating a city that offered access to queer spaces, yet rarely the intimacy, warmth, or continuity of true community. While nightlife existed, there were limited spaces centered on queer women and femme people — and even fewer that extended beyond the surface, beyond the party, into the shared fabric of everyday life.
What Kristina longed for was what she had once known on the East Coast: a sense of familiarity, of belonging, of being able to gather not just in celebration but in life itself — around tables, in conversation, in creative expression, in quiet moments, and in collective joy. A space where queerness wasn’t simply present, but deeply woven into connection, history, and shared experience.
From that longing, The Social Queer became more than a series of events — it became a living environment. A place where friendships have formed, communities have launched, love has unfolded, and even marriages have begun. With thousands of memories held within its orbit, it exists not only for the partygoer, but for the whole person.
From sketch nights and book readings to intimate dinners and large-scale annual celebrations, The Social Queer is a home for expression, reflection, and belonging. A place where identity is not just accepted, but honored. Where no one arrives as a stranger. And where, always, connection is sacred.
