Happy Hour
In candlelit warmth, The Social Queer happy hour offered a space for connection at its own pace. Guests brought sketchbooks, games, and books, allowing conversation and quiet presence to coexist. Tea in hand, we lingered, shared, and simply existed together — finding ease in a community that values both reflection and companionship.

Election Night Gathering
On the night of Trump’s reelection, we came together to create a space for care, witness, and quiet resistance. We spoke openly of disappointment, fear, and uncertainty, holding one another in shared presence. And yet, amid the heaviness, we danced and sang, letting music and movement carry us beyond despair. The room became a living reminder that connection can anchor us, that community can hold us steady, and that even in moments of uncertainty, we are never truly alone.

Queertopia
Queertopia was a celebration of music, art, and community, co-curated with local folk artist Sara Camille and featured across multiple local broadcasts. Held on a sun-drenched summer day at Volunteer Park, the festival brought together live bands, solo musicians, and interactive art installations. Attendees wandered through the grounds, discovering intimate performances, dancing to rhythmic beats, and engaging with playful, participatory experiences. Picnic blankets and laughter dotted the lawns, creating moments of pause amidst the vibrant energy. From shared movement to quiet conversation, Queertopia was a space where creativity, connection, and joy intertwined, leaving the community inspired and renewed.

Our first New Year’s Eve —and certainly not our last — was held at Black Bottle, tucked into a tree-lined corner of town glowing with Christmas lights. As the night went on, the table gave way to the dance floor, filled with laughter, music, and celebration, ending with a countdown into the New Year surrounded by chosen family.

Rekindle
Thanks to the dedicated and thoughtful planning of our lead host, Sabra, we hosted a happy hour at the Columbia Tower Club. Our happy hours are designed with newcomers in mind — whether you’re new to the community, new to the city, or just haven’t attended a Social Queer event before.
These gatherings offer a welcoming space to meet new friends, build meaningful connections, or simply enjoy a relaxed evening. We provide name tags and optional conversation starters for anyone who appreciates a little nudge to get the conversation flowing. -
Lovers
Valentine’s Night unfolded within the stunning walls of Vermilion, a women-owned art gallery in the heart of Capitol Hill. Local queer vendors gathered to showcase their craft, while attendees came together not only to celebrate love in its traditional sense, but to honor it in all its forms — expansive, expressive, and beautifully diverse.
The evening evolved into one of our fullest and most electric dance parties yet, with the energy carrying us well past 1 AM before anyone was ready to call it a night.
